Welcome to TACOS
Teens Around the Community of Sussex
TACOS is an outreach ministry program in Sussex, WI that is open
to all teens in the surrounding community.
TACOS will seek to engender resiliency in teens by equipping them to grow in, and rely on, their faith to better handle social issues and emphasize the value
of serving others in the community.
Active Statement from TACOS on COVID-19
As promised, we are providing an update on TACOS programming amid the ever changing, fluid world under the pandemic of COVID-19. We will continue to update families on the latest measures taking place at TACOS. Future updates will be provided via email, Facebook posts, and an active updating statement on the TACOS website home page labeled Statement from TACOS on COVID-19, which can be found at tacosoutreach.com.
We would first like to reiterate that all TACOS programming has been suspended until further notice as it is our policy to follow the guidelines of the Hamilton School District which has cancelled classes.
Looking into our future programming, many events have been postponed or suspended since the pandemic affected our lives. First, as mentioned in the previous statement, the March Madness Penny War has been postponed until further notice. We will still plan on holding the Penny War, but at a future date when we resume programming. Also, at this time, the CCOS Youth Mission Day on April 25th has been suspended. The TACOS partnered Hamilton High School Campus Walk Out of Darkness on May 16th has been suspended. The last event, the Empowered for Justice High School Youth Gathering on May 1-3 has been suspended.
The good news is TACOS will work to maintain communications and meaningful connection with all our youth through virtual interactions through the coming weeks. As part of this interaction I have created TACOS Virtual Mode. My plan is to provide families and youth with a variety of different activities on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. They will include talking points, bible lessons, and motivational quotes. The infographic below describes how this will work. All activities will be posted the day of in the Virtual Mode page on the TACOS website, tacosoutreach.com. The direct link to the page is https://www.tacosoutreach.com/virtual-mode. I will also be linking this to the Facebook page as well as connecting with youth through messaging if possible.
Also I want to make sure that everybody knows that this is voluntary and not for some reason "required" for TACOS youth to participate. This is merely the method strategically selected to stay in touch with youth and families during this time where we are not able to physically meet.
I hope you find these activities and connections helpful as we all continue to adjust to our new reality. As of right now, the Virtual Mode is live and there is a post for today! Since it is Wednesday it is a Bible Talk topic with a small message on the meaning of Lent.
Again, we would like to reiterate that these adjustments have been made to protect you and your loved ones. We are all learning and adjusting during this time on how to best move forward and meet the needs of everyone impacted by this amazing ministry. We will continue to give you the latest updates as they come in. Always remember to stay safe, wash your hands, and help those in need where you can.
Grace and Peace,
Director of TACOS
